Teaching

GEOG 115 “Maps: From Ptolemy to Google”
I am currently teaching a course at UNC for Spring 2012 where we examine how maps have shaped and have been shaped by global processes. Students develop sophisticated understandings of the world around them, and are provided with the skills to make their own maps using an array of technologies (ArcMap; Google Earth; Adobe Illustrator) and critical methodologies (critical cartography; feminist GIS). We welcome you to check out our syllabus!

About
I research, teach, and write about mapping, global politics, and the Middle East with a special focus on the power and dignity of everyday people. The views expressed in that work and on this site have been shaped by everyone I have ever met.
